Junior Academy Player Development Programme (PDP) (U14 – U16)

The PDP is the formal entry point into the Coventry Rugby Academy Pathway. It targets players aged 14–16 and focuses on the development of individual skill, game understanding, and character. Playing opportunities include inter-squad festivals at U15 and competitive external fixtures at U16.

  • U15 Year – Preparation Phase: A technical focus on skill acquisition to support long-term tactical freedom.
  • U16 Year – Competition Phase: Tactical exploration through principle-led coaching and competitive fixtures.

Players train at one of our four regional centres:

  • Shropshire – Newport Salop RFC (Wed 18:00–20:00)
  • Birmingham – King Edward’s School (Wed 18:00–20:00)
  • Coventry & Warwickshire – Broadstreet RFC (Mon 18:00–20:00)
  • West Midlands – Stourbridge RFC (Mon 18:00–20:00)

Assessment Event Registration:

Players are nominated by their clubs or schools based on the Coventry Academy’s TiDD profile:

  • Tennacity (Psychological): A relentless mindset; presence under pressure.
  • Influence (Tactical): Game understanding and decision-making.
  • Diligence (Technical): Coachability, detail, and ownership of development.
  • Difference (Physical): A physical attribute that can’t be ignored — whether pace, power, agility, or endurance.

Contact Time: Over 100 hours across U15 and U16.
