Coventry Rugby is thrilled to announce the re-signing of second row, James Tyas, ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The reliable second row has been a mainstay in the Coventry starting line up since joining the club midway through last season from former Championship rivals, London Scottish. Not only has James served the club admirably with his consistent performances on the pitch, but also with his secondary role as Head Analyst here at Butts Park Arena.
Tyas brought both Championship and Premiership Cup experience from his time with the Exiles and Wasps to the BPA. As a senior member of what is a relatively youthful playing group, James is relishing the chance to extend his stay.
“I’m thrilled to have re-signed at Coventry for next season. I’ve loved every minute being in this brilliant environment at Cov, and the fans’ support week in week out has made it really special for me. I look forward to building on our success next year.”
Tyas has started 28 out of the 31 games since he joined the club, and Head Coach, Alex Rae, was very happy to see James putting pen to paper ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
“It’s great to have James on board again for next season. Not only has his contribution on the field been impressive, but the work off the field that isn’t seen is equally impressive. He’s fully bought into what being a Coventry player is about.
More importantly he’s a really good person and when you couple that with his qualities on the field, that’s exactly the type of person we want.”
Everyone at Coventry Rugby is looking to seeing more of James in blue and white, and we hope he continues to enjoy his time as part of the Coventry family.
