Three backs have extended their stay at Butts Park Arena.

Scrum-half Josh Barton – scorer of the 2021 Try of the Season – and winger James Martin  – winner of the 2020 Try of the Season – continue Coventry’s commitment to giving young players an opportunity to shine.

“I am really excited about seeing Josh on the pitch this season,” said Director of Rugby Rowland Winter. “He didn’t get as much rugby as he would have liked, or probably deserved last season, so I am sure he is raring to go and it will be a great battle between him and Joe Snow at scrum-half.

“Jimmy has developed into one of the best finishers in the league, and I am looking forward to him working on his all-round game to get more opportunities. He is still young and has so much raw talent that I am sure there is much more to come from him.”

Former Leicester Tiger, Andy Forsyth, played in seven out of the 10 Championship matches last season and has added his experience off the pitch as well.

“Fozzy gives us an experienced and calm voice amongst a relatively young back line,” Winter added. “He has begun to lead the team well, and has worked hard to contribute to the backs coaching group as well.

“I am conscious that he has had disrupted seasons with loans, Covid and more loans, so I am looking forward to seeing him at his best now he can fully concentrate on Coventry.”
