Term: Season long placement is offered with earliest start in July
Voluntary Student Placement
Location: Coventry Rugby, Butts Park Arena (including additional opportunities within our Junior Academy across Coventry, South Warwickshire, Shropshire, Birmingham, Wolverhampton).
Coventry Rugby is looking to offer student placements to energetic and enthusiastic individuals that are keen to learn and work in a professional sporting environment. Coventry Rugby currently competes in the Championship, the second tier of professional rugby union. The club has also recently launched the academy programme to support youth players across the midlands.
This is an exciting opportunity for students that aspire to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in professional sport. The opportunity at Coventry Rugby can offer a flexible placement. As a minimum students will need to commit to one day a week. An afternoon and evening placement can also be offered working with the academy programme. Training days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the delivery of group and individual athletic development and rehabilitation sessions.
- Preparing and setting up both gym and pitch-based sessions.
- Data collection for velocity-based training and GPS for pitch sessions.
- Data analysis and reporting the information back to the coaching team.
The successful students will have:
- A high level of motivation for coaching both senior and junior players.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to listen and learn.
- Some experience of using Microsoft Office for data analysis.
- Exceptional time keeping.
The placement will be on a voluntary basis and expenses to travel to the club cannot be covered. The opportunity will however give the right student the chance to be heavily involved in the performance programme and progress their responsibilities as they spend time as part of the team. Each student will be mentored by an experienced member of the coaching staff.
Application Process
Students will need to email a current CV and a covering letter detailing their current course of study, what modules they enjoy most on the course and why, and any current coaching experience you may have. The covering letter should be no longer than 1 page.
