Location: Coventry Rugby, Butts Park Arena (with potential additional opportunities across our Junior Academy in Coventry, South Warwickshire, Shropshire, Birmingham, and Wolverhampton)

Position: Sports Performance Analyst Student Placement

Coventry Rugby is offering a unique opportunity for motivated and analytical students to gain valuable experience within a professional sporting environment. Competing in The Champ – the second tier of English professional rugby union – Coventry Rugby is also home to a growing academy programme that supports player development across the Midlands.

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who aspire to pursue a career in performance analysis within elite sport. This flexible placement is ideal for students looking to develop practical skills in data-driven performance support. A minimum commitment of senior training days and home matches is required with opportunities to work with our academy and attend away fixtures. Senior training days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the filming and coding of training sessions and matches
  • Collecting and managing performance data (GPS, video analysis, statistics)
  • Using analysis software to provide insights into team and individual performance
  • Supporting the coaching team with post-session and match reports
  • Attending multidisciplinary team meetings where appropriate
  • Helping to maintain and improve performance databases

Ideal Candidate:

  • A passion for sports performance analysis and professional sport
  • Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office; experience with analysis tools such as Hudl, Sportscode, or Nacsport is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Punctual and reliable with a professional attitude

Additional Info:

This is a voluntary placement. Travel expenses will not be covered, but the role offers extensive hands-on experience and the chance to build a portfolio of applied analysis work. Students will receive mentorship from experienced members of the performance and coaching staff.
