Coventry Rugby are proud to announce that 18-year-old hooker Will Dorrell, a student at The King’s School, Worcester and member of the Coventry Rugby U18 Academy, has been named in the England Men’s Pathway Front Five Development Camp – a landmark moment both for the player and the club.
This selection marks the first time that a player from the Coventry Academy pathway has been chosen for the specialist front five programme, underlining the rising strength of Coventry Rugby’s Academy and pathway model. Hosted at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, the development camps bring together the most highly regarded young players in the country, with Dorrell joining the Front Five group alongside fellow Champ Rugby prospect Ben Woodmansey (Cornish Pirates).
For Coventry Rugby, this is much more than an individual achievement – it is evidence that the club’s vision of creating genuine pathways to the top of English rugby from across the Midlands is bearing fruit.

“Will is an outstanding individual within our Academy set-up and has made significant progress over the past few months, thanks to his own commitment, exposure to senior training opportunities, and the excellent support he receives at The King’s School, Worcester. He has a bright future in the game, and we look forward to supporting his next steps as he takes on this new stage,” said Matt Jones, Coventry Rugby Academy Manager.
Coventry Rugby’s Academy continues to expand its reach across schools, clubs, and community programmes throughout the region, giving young players the chance to progress within a professional environment. Dorrell’s recognition at national level is a powerful endorsement of that work and a signal of the club’s growing role in shaping the future of English rugby.
Everyone at Coventry Rugby congratulates Will on his historic call-up and looks forward to following his journey as he represents both club and country at the highest level of development.
