Coventry Rugby is delighted to announce that George Smith has joined the club ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Having originally started this year’s Pre-Season on a trial basis, the second row made an eye-catching start to life at Butts Park Arena before putting pen to paper and becoming a permanent member of the squad. George has been playing his rugby at Old Redcliffians in Bristol, but is now relishing the chance to give rugby his full attentions.
At 6’9” and 126kg, Head Coach Alex Rae is excited to see just how much Smith can develop in a full-time, professional environment. “George came out of nowhere really, and after meeting George it was obvious that he is desperate to develop and grow his game and give rugby a really good crack. He’s a big man with physical attributes that you don’t see too often, and align that with a really good attitude it will be exciting to see how he develops with us.”
