Coventry Rugby is looking to the future with a Festival of Rugby at Butts Park Arena – when it is safe for the venue be opened, of course!
This festival will be for clubs of all levels and abilities and will be held across a weekend, along with fun for all the family.
Butts Park Arena will host various tournaments for both the men’s and women’s games, including an Elite 10s or 7s tournament involving teams from various clubs across the Championship and the National Leagues, a social tournament for teams from local clubs and universities, and exciting plans for minis and junior activities and skills masterclasses.
Of course we do not know when this will be possible given the ongoing nature of the Coronavirus pandemic, but here at Coventry Rugby we’re wanting to show that we’re ready to get rugby up and running in the West Midlands as soon as we can!
Managing Director Nick Johnston says that it is important to be positive, and the Coventry Rugby management wants to make sure all teams, clubs, players and – most importantly – supporters – have something to look forward to.
“We wanted to show that we were going to be ready to get rugby going as soon as we are able to,” he commented.
“Having an artificial pitch at Butts Park means that we will be ready to go straight away at a time when grass pitches might need a lot of maintenance, and because we’re in the heart of England we’re perfectly placed to welcome clubs and their supporters from all over the country.”
Butts Park is ideal for a festival like this, located in the heart of the country and in the middle of a rugby-mad area. The artificial pitch will be perfect regardless of the weather, and with a number of hotels and hundreds of car parking spaces within walking distance the location could not be better.
Teams and clubs who would like to express their interest in joining the Festival of Rugby can do so by emailing enquiries@coventryrugby.co.uk
