Coventry Rugby is delighted to confirm the signing of 25-year-old forward Allan Ferrie, who joins the club ahead of the upcoming season.
Born in Melrose, Scotland, Ferrie is a versatile second row/back row who has built an impressive rugby journey without following the traditional academy pathway. He began his playing career at Newton Stewart, before representing Scotland U18s, and later featuring for Melrose Rugby and the Southern Knights in the Super 6 competition.
Ferrie also gained valuable overseas experience with Southern Districts in Australia’s prestigious Shute Shield, where he produced standout performances prior to linking up with Coventry.
Ferrie is known as a powerful ball-carrier who makes consistent metres in contact, while also offering real strength in defence. His work rate around the breakdown adds another dimension to his game, making him a physical and versatile presence across the pack.
Head Coach Alex Rae said:
“It’s great to get Allan in the building training with the boys. He’s on the back of some really impressive performances in the Shute Shield, physically really imposing on both sides of the ball. He’s not come through the conventional route to get here which is exciting and there’s huge amounts of growth in his game which is exciting for him and us.”
On joining Coventry Rugby, Ferrie added:
“I’m thrilled to be joining Coventry Rugby – it’s an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. Speaking with Alex, it’s clear the club has a strong vision and ambitious plans for the future, and I’m eager to play my part in helping this historic team achieve its goals.”
We are delighted to welcome Allan to the Coventry Rugby family and look forward to seeing him make a big impact this season.
