Coventry Rugby proudly launches its Women & Girls Development Programme this summer, marking a key step in the club’s long-term strategy to grow the female game across Coventry and Warwickshire. Mirroring the successful Academy structure for boys, the initiative offers high-quality rugby provision and a clear development pathway for aspiring female players. It begins with an U12-U14 Performance Camp in August, followed by half-termly Development Days for Year 10–11 girls from September 2025. These sessions complement players’ existing commitments and support their growth in skill, confidence, and club programme. Leading the programme is Scottish international scrum-half Caity Mattinson, who joins as Women & Girls Ambassador while continuing her coaching role within the boys’ U18 EPDG pathway. Caity brings elite-level insight and leads delivery of the camps and development days alongside her professional playing career.

While built on the foundations of the boys’ model, the Women & Girls pathway is adapted to suit the current female playing landscape. With no professional women’s side linked to the club, Coventry Rugby focuses on developing a dual-pathway that combines rugby excellence with academic opportunity. From September 2025, the club launches a Sixth Form Rugby Partnership for a 2026/27 start, embedding 12–16 hours of rugby into students’ timetables and supporting this with a competitive fixtures calendar. Looking ahead, a Women’s BUCS university programme launches in 2027 for a 2028/29 start through a partnership with UCFB, offering full-time training alongside academic study and weekend club rugby. This programme represents Coventry Rugby’s commitment to accessible, sustainable and robust player development for all..
