Coventry Rugby Academy U18s continued their January block of fixtures in emphatic fashion with a 76–17 victory over Nottingham Rugby Academy U18s.
The home side produced a dominant attacking display, underpinned by resolute defence, as they controlled proceedings throughout the contest. While Coventry maintained pressure across the full 80 minutes, Nottingham Rugby Academy deserve credit for battling hard in what was their first outing as an academy side this season.
The match also marked an important occasion for the Academy, with four players making their U18 debuts. Finn Hughes (St Regis School) enjoyed an impressive introduction, scoring a try, while Jacob Jarvis (Barrs Hill School) made an immediate impact with two well-taken scores. Fellow debutants Zac Thomas and Jack McCaffrey (Barrs Hill School) also featured strongly as part of a cohesive squad effort.
Sol Gordon and Ezra McGlashan (Telford Hornets) were among those to cross the whitewash as Coventry’s attacking cohesion repeatedly tested the Nottingham defence.
Junior Academy Manager Arron Skyrme reflected positively on the performance and the continued development of the group:
“We were really impressed by how the whole squad played, especially those making their debuts and coming through the post-16 programme. We are excited about the progression the boys are making and look forward to what is now a fixture against an international pathway on Friday night.”
