At the Coventry Rugby Regional Academy, we are more than just a training ground – we are a launchpad for the next generation of elite rugby talent. Backed by the proud heritage of Coventry Rugby Club, our academy is committed to nurturing young athletes through high-performance coaching, holistic development, and a clear pathway to professional rugby.
We believe the future of our club begins right here – in our own community. Guided by our ethos of being Locally Brilliant, our mission is clear: to develop homegrown talent and build a first team where 60% of players come from our local area.
This isn’t just a goal – it’s a commitment to our roots, our region, and our responsibility to the game.
Senior Academy
The Senior Academy (U19-U23) is the pinnacle of our player pathway and is made up of young players identified through a range of sources, including Junior Academy graduates, local club and university rugby, and our extensive scouting network. Players in this programme are fully integrated into Coventry Rugby’s first-team environment and benefit from individual coaching, regular performance feedback, and professional development support.

Junior Academy (EPDG)
Our Junior Academy is the next step on the pathway for talented players aged 16–18 and represents the transition from potential to performance. It includes graduates of the Player Development Programme (PDP) and other selected individuals.

Junior Academy Player Development Programme (PDP)
The PDP is the formal entry point into the Coventry Rugby Academy Pathway. It targets players aged 14–16 and focuses on the development of individual skill, game understanding, and character. Playing opportunities include inter-squad festivals at U15 and competitive external fixtures at U16

Post-16 Education – Sixth Form Rugby Provision
Coventry Rugby is committed to creating high-level rugby and academic opportunities, particularly for players from state school or non-traditional rugby backgrounds. Over 75% of our academy players are educated outside the independent school system.
