COVENTRY Development suffered another narrow Zoo Sports Shield defeat, going down 36-29 to a strong Richmond Saxons side in a close game played at Broadstreet.

Kailus Huchinson, Sam McNulty – playing at centre after moving from the back row following an injury – James Neal and Willie Priestley scored tries, three converted by Max Titchener who also kicked a penalty.

“We played well in patches, but a couple of phases or individual errors let us down which was frustrating,” said head of Development Academy, Matt Price.

“Our first target was to keep the ball, which we largely did apart from a couple of occasions which let us down, and the second was to make our tackles but we slipped off a couple.

“Richmond were a strong side, and our boys are learning from the experience they are getting from these games and also being around the senior squad, given the amount of time they are able to spend together.”
