Coventry Rugby can now announce that an agreement has been reached with Head Coach Nick Walshe to leave the club with effect from 28 February.
Walshe arrived at Butts Park Arena with Director of Rugby Rowland Winter in 2016 and helped lead the club to promotion from National League One into the Greene King IPA Championship in 2018.
Winter thanked him for his significant contribution over the past three-and-a-half years.
“We’ve come a long way in a relatively short period of time and Nick played a big part in helping us get where we are,” he said.
“We are always looking ahead to the future and we feel that this is the right time to begin to plan for next season.
“We’ll not be replacing Nick in the short-term, and we’ve got full confidence that Anthony Allen, Louis Deacon and Academy Manager Ross Stewart can step up, supported by an experienced group of senior players, and that we can finish the campaign positively.
“I’m sure that all our supporters will join me in thanking Nick for his hard work over the past three-and-a-half years and wish him well for the future.”
Walshe said that he will look back fondly on his time at Butts Park Arena.
“It’s been a memorable journey these last four years and I’m extremely proud of what I’ve achieved whilst at Coventry,” he commented.
“I would like to thank Jon Sharp, Rowland, all staff and all the players for making this time so enjoyable.
“Coventry is an unbelievable club with such amazing fans who are so loyal and dedicated, I hope my time at the club has given them many fond memories. I wish the club all the best in the future with Coventry having a special place in my heart.”
