A PENALTY try from the final play earned Coventry Development a 12-12 draw against Bishop’s Stortford 2nd in yesterday’s Zoo Sports Shield game at Butts Park Arena.

A somewhat loose first-half performance saw Cov concede two tries to turn round 12-0 down.

They came back out to dominate the second half with Bishop’s Stortford rarely moving beyond halfway, but with conditions getting trickier in steady rain which had begun before the kick-off, it was midway through the final quarter before they were rewarded, working a try in the left corner for Kwaku Asiedu following a succession of penalties.

Straight back on to the attack, Cov were held up on the line from a catch-and-drive but, now totally dominant in the scrum, piled on the pressure with the referee finally running to the posts after another collapsed scrum.
