Coventry Rugby Development Academy

Playing + Education + Employment

The role of the Coventry Rugby Development Academy is to identify and develop talented young players and coaches from age 18 to 24 and engage them in an Elite High Performance development programme.

Coventry Rugby Development Academy (CRDA) allows you to train and play as a professional rugby player whilst gaining qualifications and earning a wage.

Here is everything you need to know…

Playing

You will become part of Coventry Rugby club, training and playing alongside the 1st XV and being coached by professional rugby coaches, many of who have played and coached at Premiership and International level.

You will complete a full time strength & conditioning programme, and be exposed to the top levels of Performance Analysis, Sports Nutrition and Medical care, all designed to enhance your ability to reach your potential.

The Development Academy will have 3 groups of players; Gold, Silver and Bronze. All players will be put in these groups based on your playing background, current ability and potential. You will be expected to progress through the groups, and on from the Gold group to the 1st XV squad to represent Coventry Rugby.

Who will you play for?

You will play for Coventry in National One, or our Development XV within the ZOO League (reserve league for Championship & National One sides), or on loan to one of our partner clubs in National 2, 3 and Midlands 1.

Education

We understand the need for continued education to provide the skills and qualifications for a successful career alongside your success in sport.

You will gain the following qualifications during the season;

  • RFU Level 1 Coaching Certificate
  • RFU Level 2 Coaching Certificate
  • UK Sport awards
  • Emergency Aid Certificate
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of PE and School Sport
