For the second time this season, Coventry made what proved to be a fruitless, but costly trip to an away venue, the match at the Pillar Data Stadium finally being called off at 1.40pm. It was also a galling experience for the high number of supporters who had made the trip down to Surrey. This was by far the biggest away following of the season and showed just how seriously the support base viewed the match in terms of getting behind their side for a crucially important league encounter. There will always be differing opinions as to whether or not not a match should be called off, both teams had suggested they were prepared to give it a go, however the referee had indicated he would call the game off if a start had been made. Clearly a pitch that frankly was hard was certainly going to get a lot worse by the end after what would have been a 3pm kick off. All however very annoying and frustrating after all the efforts made to get there. |
