Coventry RFC’s, Tom Slater has been selected for the Wales National Rugby Union Sevens Team.

The Wales Sevens currently compete in the IRB Sevens World Series. Having also qualified for the 2009 Rugby World Cup in July of this year, Slater will be joining their squad in Dubai for the most exciting event in the rugby calendar.

Slater comments, “I’m really pleased to be joining the squad and it’s an honour to be representing my club as well as my country”.

The scrum half has been with Coventry RFC since July of 2007. He currently travels to Cardiff once a week for training, which will increase as the start of the World Cup in March, draws closer.

Slater, 22 is the first Coventry player to be selected for the Wales Sevens squad, a great achievement that the Club are very proud of.

Everyone at the club wishes Tom luck and looks forward to seeing what he will bring to the World Cup!
