Coventry RFC is pleased to announce Phil Maynard as the new Rugby Director for the Club.

After taking an 18 month gap from the professional game, Maynard is now more than ready to throw himself into the new role at the Club.

Maynard explains, “I always said that if the right club came along I would consider coming back, and this offer just seemed right.

Coventry have got a settled team, I watched them play quite a few times last season and was very impressed. All they need is consistency which can be worked on.

The major incentive for me is what Cov are and meeting the high expectations of their supporters because they vote with their feet. In that respect it raises the bar for me."

Andrew Green, Club owner and Chairman commented, "Phil has got an excellent track record at this level and I'm confident that what he brings to the club will help us to move forward. We have talked on a number of occasions, he has always advised us well when I have sought his counsel, and it was really just a question of getting the timing right.

He now feels it is right for him to move back into this role, and we definitely need someone to head up the department and drive it on. He has met everyone and the reaction has been positive."
