Coventry RFC Limited was pleased to hold the Awards for the Coventry and Warwickshire’s Community Rugby ‘Seal of Approval’ at the last game of the season against Nottingham. Five clubs received the accreditation, which recognises the effort and achievement in reaching the required standard of a club committed to the development of rugby for young people.

The five clubs receiving the ‘Seal of Approval’ award are Broadstreet RFC, Ballsal and Berkswell RFC, Earlsdon RFC, Old Coventrian’s RFC and Barkers’ Butts RFC. The accreditation highlights that these clubs are providing young people with a safer, well-organised and enjoyable environment in which to learn and play rugby.

Mark Richardson, the Coventry and Warwickshire’s RFC Development Officer, was quick to highlight the hard work that has come from the clubs to achieve this award, he comments:

“The award recognises these clubs as being safe environments for children to be in, alongside coaches who have received the RFU coaching qualification. My goal for the future is that every Junior Rugby Club in the area attains the ‘Seal of Approval’ so that every child playing rugby is doing so with maximum safety in every possible way.

“It was great to be able to award five clubs in the Coventry area the ‘Seal of Approval,’ and I would urge other clubs to follow suit. It was very fitting to have the awards ceremony at the last game of the season, everyone had a great day and it was a good end to a year of hard work by all the clubs.”

If anybody would like more information on how to achieve the RFU’s ‘Seal of Approval,’ then please contact Mark Richardson on

Ends.
