Coventry RFC has announced exciting plans to hold a ‘Front Row Clinic’ which will focus on position-specific development. The Front Row Clinic will be run in conjunction with Esporta and Warwickshire Sport and Racquets Club Following the great success of the Rugby Schools held for 6-16 year olds in the Easter holidays, Coventry RFC has decided to open this opportunity up to senior rugby players in the Coventry and Warwickshire area. The first Coventry RFC Front Row Clinic will be held on Bank Holiday Monday, 26th May 2008. This will be for adults only, 19 and over. The second clinic will be for players aged 15 – 19 and will be run over the course of three days, Tuesday 27th May – Thursday 29th May from 10am till 12pm. Both of the Clinics will specifically deal with technical improvement of skills for the positions of Hooker, Loose-head and Tight-head Prop. There will also be a gym session on core strength exercises specifically needed in the off-season. Murray Henderson explains: “The front row is a very technically proficient position and gaining the skills needed takes both time and understanding. Each prop needs the skill to lock alternative shoulders, depending on what head you are and the hooker’s best ally is throwing; knowing this is his core strength. This is an essential part of the front rower’s individual development but a major disadvantage is that it is not common coaching knowledge. “Cov’s Front Row Clinic is a must if you want help in mastering, what some would say, is the most important position in the game.” The cost of the clinic, for both age groups, will be £15 per player. To register for either of the Front Row Clinics please contact Esporta Health and Racquets Club directly on 02476 306 600, or alternatively you can go into Esporta and register there. Ends.
