Local Tile Hill side, Old Coventrians RFC, have been working with Coventry Rugby Football Club in their inaugural year of Colts rugby.

‘OC’s have had good attendances at the Tuesday and Thursday training sessions directed by present Coventry first team hooker Richard Protherough, with talented coaches from Old Coventrians, Neil Chapman and Lau Langkilde working hard to ensure the squad is prepared for the coming season. The lads were particularly pleased with the opportunity to participate in a joint training session with the full Coventry 1st team squad at the Butts Park Arena.

The team is based around strong senior and junior Colts who have grown up through the very successful Old Coventrians mini and junior sections. This is being complemented by additional players joining the team through a desire to be trained and play at the highest possible level.

The pre-season programme of events has been arranged as follows:-

Thursday 9th August     Trial match (KO 6.30pm) at Tile Hill Lane involving all present junior and senior Colts as well as any new players. (Anybody interested in joining the squad please contract Old Coventrians RFC)

Sunday 12th August    Two representative teams will play in the Rugby Lions 10s Tournament at Rugby RFC.

Saturday 18th August    A pre-season match against Rugby Lions Colts will take place at the Butts Park Arena, as part of Coventry RFC’s rugby carnival.

Saturday 1st September    A match against Chinnor Colts at Butts Park Arena as a “curtain raiser” to the first Coventry National League 1 home match against Doncaster RFC.
