Ben Adams and Junior Bulumakau make their first Championship starts in a Coventry Rugby shirt against Cornish Pirates on Sunday (2.30pm kick off).

Former Australia Sevens international Adams wears the No.8 shirt in Penzance, with Latu Makaafi rotating to the bench.

Fijian-born Bulumakau, who replaces Rob Knox on the right wing, is joined in a potent back three combination by round one try-scorer David Halaifonua and James Stokes.

A third change to the starting XV that claimed a 20-15 opening day home win over Jersey sees Tony Fenner and Sam Tuitupou switch starting and replacement roles in midfield.
This means former Cornish Pirates scrum half Tom Kessell, who retains the No.9 shirt, again partners Will Maisey at half-back.

And rugby director Rowland Winter has also named an unchanged front five to face opponents who launched their campaign with a 31-24 home win over Doncaster Knights.

The visitors have opted for a five-two split among the replacements, where back-rower Ben Nutley replaces Kailus Hutchinson.

Rowland Winter said:
“The squad has trained really well this week, there is a buzz around the group and they are excited to take on Cornish Pirates.

“We know it will be a big challenge. Pirates are an established team looking to pressure the top end of the table and had a strong start last week with a bonus-point win.

“It is great to be able to select a similar team to last week, and to welcome Junior Bulumakau and Ben Nutley into the match squad following impressive weeks in training.

“We want to find the balance between picking a consistent squad so the players can gel, rewarding good performances and also giving opportunities to those who fight their way into the team and deserve a chance. We have a really talented squad, and competition for each spot is really healthy.”
