Coventry Rugby are delighted to announce that Louis Deacon, 37, has extended his contract with the club and will be staying at Butts Park Arena until 2020.

The former England Under 20s Grand Slam winning coach, joined Coventry ahead of the National One title-winning season.

With 29 England Caps, 274 Premiership appearances for Leicester Tigers in a 14-year glittering career that including six Premiership Titles and two Heineken Cups all to his name.

Deacon led Coventry’s pack to regular dominance this year as Forwards Coach and is looking forward to the new challenge of the Greene King IPA Championship.

“Next year will be a big challenge, but we have a hard working and talented group and that coupled with the club’s ambition makes it an exciting time at Coventry, and I am really looking forward to playing my part,” said Deacon.

The 37-year-old has built a formidable forward pack with Coventry Rugby, whilst also helping and keeping a watchful eye over the Development side last season.

With the club heading in the right direction, having gained promotion and plans to extend the stadium and other facilities around the club, Director of Rugby, Rowland Winter, paid tribute to Deacon’s coaching ability and influence on the team.

He said: “Deacs has been a brilliant addition this season, adding serious quality to our coaching team, and I am delighted he has committed to the club for the future.

“His high standards, attention to detail, and work ethic have rubbed off on the players and I am sure that the team will continue to develop with him involved.”
