Coventry Rugby’s title winning Head Coach Nick Walshe commits to a new contract extension until 2020 at Butts Park Arena.

Walshe, 43, steered England Under 20’s to back to back Junior World Cup titles as Head Coach in 2013 and 2014, joining Premiership side Gloucester as Backs & Attack Coach for two years, before arriving at Coventry in 2016.

Director of Rugby Rowland Winter, expressed his delight with the retention of Walshe and recognised the contribution of the former Bath and England scrum-half.

He said: “Nick’s impact and influence on the team has been immeasurable, his attention to detail and ambition have been a major driving force behind this season’s success.

“He is a proven winner and I am delighted that he has shown his commitment to the club”

Walshe, who started his coaching career with new league rivals Bedford Blues, is looking forward to the the challenge of the Greene King IPA Championship.

He said: “It’s fantastic to be committing to Coventry Rugby for two more years. My time at the club has been extremely enjoyable and rewarding especially winning the title this year.

“The ambition of the club and the journey that we are on makes it an exciting place to be and I absolutely want to be a part of that.

“Being back in the Championship personally and as a club brings a massive challenge that we are seriously looking forward to.
