Kailus Hutchinson will tour Georgia with England Counties

Coventry Rugby share its extended congratulations to Development Academy second row / back row Kailus Hutchinson, who has been selected for the England Counties Under-20’s squad.

This caps off an excellent season for the 20-year-old who made his senior team debut in National League One against Rosslyn Park at Butts Park Arena in April.

The forward started that game at blindside flanker after an impressive run of form in the Development team and has since impressed the England Counties coaching team.

Upon hearing the news of his inclusion in the England Counties squad the lock-forward was delighted with achieving his early season ambitions.

He said: “When I found out I was in the squad, I was over the moon.

“I set myself goals at the beginning of the season, two of which, were to play for the first team and get into the England Counties squad.

“I couldn’t be happier with myself for staying determined and focused on completing what I set out to do.

The squad travel to Tbilisi tomorrow with their hosts using the tour as a warm up for the Under-20’s World Cup in June and Hutchinson knows how physical the tour is going to be.

“I am excited and nervous for the challenges that lay ahead, Georgia are a physical side and I’m eager to see if I can rise to that challenge.

There were twenty-seven teams, including over one thousand players who took part in the ‘Jason Leonard U20 RFU County Championship’, who all worked hard to gain selection for the four regions.

Hutchinson’s journey started with representing North Midlands U20s and went on to represent the Midlands Counties region before being selected to be part of the squad for the England Counties Under-20’s tour to Georgia.
