Coventry Rugby celebrated it’s most recent success at an official Civic Reception with Lord Mayor Tony Skipper at St Mary’s Guildhall in the City centre yesterday evening.

Lord Mayor sent special invitation to the club, it’s players and staff members to commemorate a remarkable season on and off the pitch to celebrate sport and it’s success in the City.

After the end of a truly memorable season for Coventry Rugby with a standout promotion campaign and a return to the Championship, with several records being broken along the way, Rowland Winter and company spent the evening looking back on their successes this season.

With both the National League One and NCA trophies on display, a great evening was had with fine dining and a celebratory ale marking the club’s success on the label as a special gift for everyone involved.

In a bid to make Coventry a successful City, with the award of City of Culture 2021, Lord Mayor spoke about his aims for the future and how the City can benefit from sport, with it being at the heart of his plans.

Director of Rugby Rowland Winter was full of praise for the Lord Mayor and gave special thanks for the clubs’ invitation.

He said: “It was a fantastic honour to be invited to Lord Mayor’s St Mary’s Guildhall last night and it was a nice way to bring a momentous season to a close.

“We really appreciate all the support we have had this season from all of our fans, the Lord Mayor and the City Council.”
