By John Wilkinson FORWARDS coach Boris Stankovich highlighted Coventry’s line-out as a prime contributory factor to Saturday’s 33-24 defeat at Plymouth Albion.
Cov led twice and were within a point of their hosts at the end of normal time, but a succession of lost line-outs cost them territory and possession with Plymouth adding a late try and penalty to leave the visitors empty handed.
“I am disappointed because the boys really did front up and unfortunately our line-out let us down, which probably has been a consistent thing for us over the season,2 said Stankovich.
“I’m not going to make excuses, it wasn’t good enough. It’s been a bit of an issue for us, we just haven’t had any consistency there for a number of reasons. There are solutions and we will work on putting it right.
“Overall there was a load more commitment out there, and as a coaching team we’re ll prod of the boys and how they’ve handled themselves.
“A lot of good teams have come down to Plymouth and been beaten, and we’ve pushed them right to the end which we’ll take as a positive.
“From 1 to 20, everyone played well and they all stood up.”
Added Stankovich: “I was disappointed with some of the refereeing decisions, to be honest. There were occasions when we were actually pushing them off the ball and we were penalised, and then they were penalised when we were going backwards. There was a lot of input from the sidelines, from the two ARs, which I thought was very strange and I just found disappointing.”
